The New York Daily News is reporting that a FDNY EMT has been taken into custody after police found firearms and 2 pipe bombs in his Brighton Beach apartment.
Reportedly FDNY EMT Victor Cadicamo became involved in an altercation with his wife, supposedly also a FDNY EMT, and she called 9-1-1 to report that he had threatened her with a gun. When officers from the NYPD 60th Precinct searched the home they recovered 5 firearms and a rifle from the home.
Officers from the 60th Precinct brought FDNY EMT Cadicamo in for questioning. During that session he admitted to having bombs in his home. The NYPD Bomb Squad was dispatched there earlier this afternoon and removed two 6-inch pipe bombs. Both bombs were removed and transported for safe disposal while the firearms are being examined to determine if they are operational. FDNY EMT Cadicamo is being charged with second degree menacing (a class A misdemeanor) and second degree harrassment (a violation) for the domestic dispute. Additionally he is being charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree (a class D felony) individually for each firearm, the rifle, and the two pipe bombs.
So… maybe he didn’t get the memo that EMTs and Paramedics aren’t carrying guns (or explosives) on ambulances. At least not yet….
